Saudi citizens travelling to the United States can now apply for Global Entry, a programme that helps approved travellers get through airport immigration faster.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 27 that Saudi citizens are now eligible to join the US programme, which is run by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The move aims to make travel between the two countries easier and strengthen cooperation between them.
What Is Global Entry?
Global Entry is a travel programme for pre-approved travellers that helps speed up the process of entering the United States.
Members can use dedicated lanes and self-service kiosks at participating US airports, helping reduce the time spent waiting at immigration and passport checks.
The membership also includes access to TSA PreCheck for eligible domestic flights within the US, allowing travellers to use designated security lanes for a quicker screening process.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the programme covers more than 200 airports across the United States and works with over 80 participating airlines.
How Can Saudi Citizens Apply?
Saudi citizens can apply online through the official Trusted Traveler Programs website.
The application process involves completing an online form and paying a $120 fee. Applicants must then pass the required background checks. Those who receive conditional approval will need to attend an in-person interview with US Customs and Border Protection before their membership is activated.
However, applying does not guarantee approval, as applicants must meet the requirements set by the relevant authorities in both countries.
How Long Does Global Entry Last?
Once approved, Global Entry membership is valid for five years, provided members continue to meet the programme’s requirements.
For Saudi travellers who regularly visit the United States, the programme offers another way to make airport arrivals and security checks more convenient.
The announcement marks a new step in travel cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States, with the aim of making trips between the two countries smoother for eligible travellers.
